US Congress investigations into FTX are in limbo without a House Speaker

At the time of publication, the United States House of Representatives was at a historic standstill in its process of choosing a Speaker for the 118th Congress — a quagmire that could lead to lawmakers delaying committee hearings.

Representative Patrick McHenry, the next chair of the House Financial Services Committee, said in December that the body planned to hold another hearing on the collapse of FTX sometime in 2023. The U.S. Senate, not overshadowed by the same divisions as the House, began swearing in lawmakers on Jan. 3.
