Parts of Massachusetts are poised to see the states first accumulating snow of the season on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
Projections vary from a coating of snow to more than two inches, with the likelihood of higher accumulations increasing further inland. The weather agencys regional office said much of Berkshire County and parts of western Franklin County could expect between 2 and 3 inches of snow. No snow is expected near the coast. Areas between Interstate 95 and Worcester as well as a stretch of the state beneath the Massachusetts Turnpike out to Springfield may see just a shallow layer of powder
The National Weather Service projects light snow across Central and Western Massachusetts in the first accumulating snowfall of the 2022-2023 winter.
Temperatures could hover around freezing Tuesday night, but then rise into the low 40s by Wednesday morning. In all but the highest elevation areas, National Weather Service said the snow would transition to rain by midday Wednesday, but that a freezing drizzle could develop during the changeover period.

2022 has thus far delivered one of the warmest falls on record. That is soon to change, the Weather Service said.
Monday will be the first cooler-than-normal day of November, with highs in the 40s for much of the state, about 5 to 8 degrees behind a typical temperature this time of year, the weather agency said. A gusty wind from the northwest will further chill the state, though it will be somewhat offset by clear skies and sun.
